Payment Policy
The Meltzer Center is committed to providing high-quality cognitive assessments and evidence-based treatments to members of the community. As a training center for the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program, we utilize a sliding fee scale, which allows us to offer services at a significantly lower fee — typically over 50% less than private clinics. We are committed to serving our community and reducing barriers to mental health care.
Waitlist Deposit (Non-Refundable)
Clients must pay a $25 deposit fee to be added to our waitlist for services.
Intake Fee (Non-Refundable)
Clients will have an intake session to determine if they are a good fit for services at the Meltzer Center. The fee for the 2-hour Therapy Intake fee is twice the cost of the session fee for therapy. For assessments, clients will pay $100 prior to the intake session, which will be applied to the total assessment fee.
Assessment and Therapy Fees
Assessment Fees
- Clients are expected to pay the fee for assessments in full at the first session.
- If clients are not able to pay the full fee up front, requests can be made for payment plans such as paying half of the fee at the first session and the remainder when all testing is complete (at the feedback session).
- Reports will not be released to clients or other agencies until the full fee has been paid.
- For private school admissions testing (WISC and WPPSI), we charge a flat fee (paid at first session) that includes a report sent to schools and an optional feedback session for parents (in person or by phone).
Therapy Fees
- Therapy fees are based on 45-50 minute therapy hour.
- Clients are expected to pay the session fee in full before each therapy session.
- Clients may pay for multiple sessions in advance but may not accrue a balance for therapy sessions.
Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend a session, we require a cancellation notice (24 hours in advance for therapy sessions and 48 hours for assessment sessions). Clients who miss a session without appropriate cancellation in advance will be billed for the session. Clients will pay $50 for a no-show or late cancellation for an assessment session. Clients may be placed back on the waitlist, or terminated if they miss more than one appointment without sufficient advanced notification.
Payment Methods
- The Meltzer Center accepts credit card payments through an electronic payment system.
- The Meltzer Center does not take insurance. You should know that many insurance companies do not pay for services provided in the Meltzer Center due to its designation as a training clinic. Therefore, you (not your insurance company) are responsible for fully paying therapy and assessment fees. The Meltzer Center can provide a billing statement to aid you in filing insurance claims, but we are not responsible for collecting or negotiating disputed insurance claims. Sometimes, your insurance may reimburse you for the partial cost of assessment and therapy sessions. You can also use billing statements to submit to your flex fund or HSA plan if you have one, or use your HSA card to pay.
